Keira's 1st Snowman!
Over the past couple of winters it seems that Keira's always sick everytime we get a decent amount of snow. So getting her out to play in it has been a problem. So now that she's 3 1/2 and really understanding things more and more she's been asking when its going to snow so that we can make a snowman. Well today was the day. Last night we went out to dinner with Harvey & Lori and the kids around the corner at Red Robin. About that time we started to get some real snow coming down, Keira was elated. She couldn't wait to walk from the Jeep to the restaurant so that she could catch snowflakes on her tongue. By the time we left the restaurant around 8pm we already had a good amount so it looked promising for some overnight accumulation. This morning we showed Keira the backyard and she flipped out! If she had the strength to do so she would've opened the sliding door and headed into the snow in her pajamas. Luckily we convinced her to put on all her snow gear and we would go out before breakfast. So we all got bundled up and headed out into the front yard. The snow was very wet and heavy (after living here now for almost 7 years you begin to learn the different types of snow), so it made for great packing and snowballs that could put you in the hospital. Even though it was only a couple inches deep Keira jumped right in, before you know she was throwing snowballs at the camera man (me) and we were able to build her first snowman. Although we didnt have a carrot for his nose I thinked he turned out ok.

Swiper the sneaky fox... he stole my kidney!
As long as Keira has been fascinated with Dora the Explorer, she has had a love-hate relationship with Swiper the Fox. Swiper (as many of you parents know) is the bad guy on the show. He shows up at different times of each episode to swipe (or steal) key objects in the story. The only way he can be stopped is for Dora (and your child) to yell out "Swiper No Swiping!" three times in a row. That usually does the trick and the fox runs away. Well sometimes Keira has been so afraid of him that she will hide under a pillow or blanket until he goes away on the television. Other times she likes him and tells Christie and I things like "there's swiper Momma" and wants her stuffed Swiper to play with. Well one day while she was watching the show I told Keira "Yes I don't like Swiper either, he stole my kidney, I woke up in a bathtub full of ice and my kidney was gone!". I don't think I have ever seen a more blank, confused look on her face in my life. Christie was floored that I would say such a thing and now Keira tells people when she has the opportunity "Swiper took my Daddy's kidney!". If they made you take a test before becoming a Dad I wonder how I would score... :)

The 2007 Christmas Card That Never Was...
So over the last 2 years taking Keira to see Santa hasn't really been an option. She didn't really understand the whole thing (other than the part about presents, she gets that). This year though we thought it would be different. We've been explaining to her over the last few weeks how she needs to take a picture with Santa and tell him what she wants for Christmas. She's really getting all of this now, so we're like cool this will be the year. So, we take her over to Somerset Collection (collection wtf is that, its a fancy pinkey in the air word for "mall") in Troy, MI. This "mall" has the mother of all Santa setups, a three story high castle in the center with the works. It really is a crazy setup like nothing I've ever seen. So we roll up on the 18th (yes the weekend before Thanksgiving, Christie isn't messing around this year) to the "mall" and we make an appointment to see Santa, because at this "mall" you don't wait in line, oh no, we wouldn't dream of that lovey. So we're about an hour away from seeing the big man in red. So we take her to build a bear because her poodle she made there needs some new gear, and we manage to kill the time walking around so now its our turn. We get called into the waiting area. There you wait with a few other families and you can see Santa pretty good, Keira is seeing what is going on and she is REALLY excited about it. We're like "this is awesome!" Now it's Keira's turn... You guessed it! She freaks out as soon as Christie puts her on Santa's lap! She's reaching for me, crying etc. So the photographer calmly asks Santa to check on the reindeer and Santa bounces. Keira winds up calming down a little and we then take a picture as a group, not that Christie and I were prepared to take pictures here but at this point I'm just glad there's not an angry mob waiting on Santa behind us (kudos to the appt thing). So we take a group shot and when we get the CD home notice that Santa managed to get in the shot anyway, not too shabby Santa, clever. So, maybe 2008 will be different :)
It's been a while...
Yes, I've lagged on uploading pictures and stuff, but no longer! I have updated Keira's birthday (from over 8 months ago) :) More updates coming.

It's official Christmas is over! he he he
With the temperature a scorching 50 out today I was able to finally take down our last remaining Christmas lights on the roof. At least with the cold weather lately I have a reason as to why its taken me over 2 months after the holidays to get them down. In East San Jose they're still up on houses as well but that's just because of laziness :)
1,095 days old
3 years ago today at 15:45 (3:45pm) our daughter Keira was born. I can't believe it has been 3 years already. We're getting the house ready for her birthday party right now. I'll try to post some pictures as well when I get a chance.
(update) The party was a success (it would be kind of hard to screw up a 3 year old's birthday party don't you think?). Surrounded by family Keira blew out the candles on her cake for the first time! Of course the theme was Disney Princess. She ripped through her presents and actually paused to look at cards. After the presents she went into what had to be the biggest sugar rush I have ever witnessed... On a super high of birthday cake she began shrieking and rambling and making just about no sense, yet at the same time had everyone in the room laughing until they had tears. We got some good video of the event and I'm sure 15 years from now in 2022 she's going to love Dad showing this footage to her boyfriend... After the sugar rush she fell asleep on the couch around 10:30pm when I snapped the last shot of her for the evening.

Die Groundhog Die!
The groundhog saw his shadow back on the 2nd of February so winter should be over right? WRONG! We got a big batch of freezing rain last night that has turned this state into a giant hockey rink! So much for global warning there Mr. Gore!
